KONG Skull Island
Skull Island is the story and reimagining of King Kong and his early days back home on Skull Island. This movie is the story of Scientist and Soldiers on their “Study” of Skull Island an island until now has never been seen by human kind. A lot like the Peter Jackson film this highlights the beautiful island and its many terrifying inhabitants including the king a massive gorilla called Kong.
This movie has its problems sure but that doesn’t take away from my enjoyment of the movie. From the get go it is super obvious that roles these characters will fill in the movie. With a simple and predictable plot to go along with the basic and bland characters its an ok movie. But along comes Kong. He made this movie so fun and enjoyable. Whenever he was onscreen his presence demands your attention. More and more people find the lack of plot and deep characters detracting from this movie. For me that was not the case at all. I do not agree with that at all. I do not go to a King Kong movie to find out why Loki Left the brattish military. I really do not care; I go to see King Kong kick some serious ass. And boy does he in this movie.
If you know what you are getting into when you see this film, I think you will like it way more. You go to see this movie for Kong and Kong is very cool in this film. He is large intimidating and a bad ass. One of the things I also liked about this movie is how they scaled up Kong. They made him a bit bigger and almost as big as Godzilla from the 2014 movie. That was one of the things I was worried about when the rumors of the King Kong Vs Godzilla movie was announced. But they made him a force to be feared and I cannot wait for the crossover. Another thing that gives this movie the edge of the 2014 Godzilla is the screen time Kong got. In Godzilla the namesake of the film was only on screen for 7 minutes, SEVEN MINUTES!!!! Are you kidding me??? This movie sprinkles Kong Throughout so you do not get bored with the bland human Characters they cram into it to keep the “plot” moving.
Over all I give this movie a 3 out of 5 gorilla chest pounds.
