Holy crap, this movie will make you want to delete all of your social media pages and block all of your ex-girlfriends…Ingrid goes west will terrorize anyone with a social following

This movie takes something that we all are guilty of and amps it up 1000%. Social stalking is something we all have done but when Ingrid starts to get obsessed with an Instafamous “Celebrity” she decides to move west to the same town in an attempt to becoming her new BFF. As you expect this becomes more creepy then charming and Ingrid pushes the line between enthusiastic fan and stalker… (spoiler alert, she is a stalker)

This movie is on the surface a silly comedy that follows a crazy fan as she stalks someone famous. What I enjoyed about Ingrid goes West is what lies beneath the jokes. This film does a great job of illustrating a cultural obsession with social media and the façade of our perfect lives we choose to share on Instagram. By using this example of a fan going too far the film maker shines a light on the new wave of communication and posturing that has become so engrained in our society. I think it is a good reminder of the difference between someone’s real life and what they choose to share with the world.

This movie is interesting and overall enjoyable. It is not a film that you will have to chew on long, or anything that you will have to keep coming back to, but the performances are enjoyable and I think this movie is worth a watch.
