Avengers: Age of Ultron is the culmination of Marvel’s cinematic universe phase 2. If you don’t know what that is I don’t know what rock you have been living under but its time to crawl out and see the light.
A new threat has risen for our dynamic team of superhero misfits to defend the world from. The difference here is that the threat was created by Tony Stark to help the avengers. When his A.I. program decides that the best way to give the human race peace is to wipe them out entirely, his name is Ultron and he is a real pain in the ass. This sets up the standard action movie you have come to expect from Marvel filled with action, humor, and great character moments.
If you love Marvel you will love this movie. The character dynamic is straight out of the comic books, and plays really well on screen. Joss Wedden has added a couple new wrinkles to this movie that added depth to the already lovable team. Hawkeye actually gets his due in this movie, and his character gets more screen time with a much more fleshed out role that works great.
This movie does have a couple problems and it is mostly related to the pacing. The Avengers suffers at parts with the story being too big. This movie could be 4 hours long, but at just over 2 hours, parts feel rushed and out of place. At times the Avengers suffers from being part of such a large universe that it gets pulled in different set ups and pay offs. The first Avengers movie worked these in well but the sequel seems to suffer from it.
Ive seen the movie twice and although its not as good as the first Avengers it still serves as a great summer blockbuster flick to stuff your face full of popcorn and remember when kids used to beat you up for playing with a hulk action figure, take that jocks!
