Listen, if you put two of the hottest comedians today in a comedy together you are guaranteed to get some laughs but do they have to do so many dick and fart jokes?
Get hard is a buddy comedy movie staring Will Farrell and Kevin Hart. Will Farrell’s character is going to jail for investment fraud and he hires Kevin Hart to “train” him to survive in prison even though unbeknownst to Farrell, Hart has never been to prison. A funny premise but it failed to keep me interested.
This movie is a very, paint by numbers. It paints a predictable plot line and it never strays far from the basic structure of stereotypical jokes you saw in the trailer. Was this movie funny? My answer to that is yes; it has some laugh out loud moments and an overall funny structure. The real problem is that the jokes get repetitive and once you figure out where the plot is headed it is easy to lose interest. This film suffers from the classic comedy problem of not being able to wrap up the movie in an interesting way.
Overall the movie had funny moments and I was enjoyed the film but lacked enough unexpected turns and interesting support characters to make me love it like many Farrell movies before it.
