Ant-man and the Wasp
Ant Man and The Wasp got screwed. We all knew following Infinity War was going to be hard for any of the MCU franchises, but making Ant Man go next is just mean. This movie was enjoyable but you won’t remember it in 5 minutes after leaving the theater because the truth is…. It doesn’t matter.
Ant-Man and The Wasp picks up a year or two after Civil War. Scott Lang is on house arrest after fighting with Captain America in Civil War and his mentor Hank Pym and girlfriend Hope Van Dyne are on the run for being associated with the outlawed tech. Hank and Hope need Scott’s help to rescue their Mother from the quantum realm and Scott needs to risk 20 years in prison to become Ant-Man again and do the right thing.
This movie is funny, it still has the jokes of the first film and the characters are likable, but this movie suffers from a lack of interest. This movie doesn’t really tie into the Avengers story and to me it felt like I was re-watching a film pre-Thanos. After having such a massive event in the universe it felt very odd to set a movie just before that happened. It made the MCU for the first time feel disjointed and unorganized.
This also has one of the flattest and least interesting villains since Thor: Dark World. I didn’t care about her and never thought her plan was actually going to work. In fact, I’m not sure I could tell you what her plan actually was?
After Black Panther and Infinity War (both 5/5’s) this movie just felt like a real step backwards. If you are a fan of Ant-Man this may be worth checking out but untimely you won’t remember the film after finishing your jumbo bucket of popcorn.
