Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I we review Movies, Create Podcasts, and share our love of movies with you! Enjoy

Tusk

What did I just watch… Did he just get turned into a Walrus?

Ok so let me start off this review by stating in front of God and fans that I am not a big fan of the horror genre as a whole. I don’t like being scared or feeling really uncomfortable in the theater and so I usually avoid these types of movies if I can. That being said, I found this movie because 1. I am a huge Kevin Smith fan and 2. The buzz about how original this movie is, made me think I had to see it even if I didn’t like it. Let me tell you this, on those two points it did not disappoint.

This story (if you haven’t heard already) is about a well-known podcaster that through a series of events goes to interview this old man who says he has a lot of stories from his time at sea and is looking to share his stories and his house with anyone looking for a place to live. As Justin Longs character goes to interview him he gets drugged and the old man turns him into a Walrus. Does that make sense? No I know, neither does the movie.

So how did I like this movie, honestly I don’t know… Through two acts this movie manages to be both funny and creepy. It knows that the movie is ridiculous and makes fun of itself (and Canada) while at the same time being pretty suspenseful and scary. Then the third act comes and it takes a hard right turn. This turn took me out of the movie and I could never get back in. It tries to be a little too quirky and ends up spinning a lot of the viewers off, myself included.

Although this isn’t my cup of tea (you’ll get that once you have seen the movie) if you are a fan of horror movies you have to see Tusk. If you don’t care for horror like me maybe just leave this one alone. The one thing I can say about this movie though is it sticks with you and you wont be able to un-see a lot of the messed up images for many nights to come.

My Score is: Catch it on Cable (but youve been warned)
